Durham, N.C. –Durham County Manager Mike
Ruffin announced he has named Ms. Motiryo Keambiroiro
(Mo-tree-o Key-am-bee-ro-e-ro) as
Durham County’s new director of
General Services. She replaces
longtime director Mike Turner who retired in December and will begin her tenure
on January 25.
In announcing
the appointment, Ruffin said “I am delighted that we were able to fill this
position with a candidate of Ms. Keambiroiro’s qualifications. Her
background is a perfect fit for the challenges that her department will be
facing as we add the new Human Services Complex and Justice Center to our
inventory of County buildings. Our team is very excited about her
arrival.”
She has more
than 20 years of governmental experience managing and leading a variety
organizations primarily focused on general administration, and
construction/project management.
She comes to Durham County from Richton Park, Illinois where she served
as Village Manager from 2007-2009. Ms. Keambiroiro experience includes
management positions with the City of Seattle Washington, and the City of
Kirkland Washington in addition to private sector employment in Ohio, Illinois
and the District of Columbia.
In accepting
the position, Ms. Keambiroiro enthusiastically stated, “I am looking forward to
sharing my construction and administrative skills with the General Services
staff to provide Durham County residents with quality efficient facilities and
services.”
Ms.
Keambiroiro received her Bachelor of Architecture from Kansas State University
and Masters of Architecture with a concentration in Environmental Planning from
University of New Mexico. Her professional affiliations include the Association
of Women Energy Engineers, Illinois City Manager Association, International
City/County Management Association Illinois Municipal League and the National
Forum for Black Public Administrators.
Her starting
salary will be 106,000.
