Collaborative Training Teaches Restaurateurs How to Serve Food Safely

Events Facts:

  • The ServSafe 18-hour Manager's Certification course is approved by the state of North Carolina for a possible two-point credit on all program participant’s restaurant inspections. 
  • Expert educators for Durham and Orange County Cooperative Extension, Environmental Health, Extension Food Science Department at North Carolina State University (NCSU), Family and Consumer Science Department of Cooperative Extension at NCSU, and Extension Entomology at NCSU will collaborate to teach principles in preparing, serving, and storing safe food to program participants.
  • Program participants will receive the ServSafe Coursebook, a thermometer, three lunches, and certification issued by the National Restaurant Association. 
  • Those who complete the ServSafe 18-hour Manager's Certification course will be given a certification exam on Monday, February 22, at 9 a.m.  The course will be taught in English.  The certification exam is available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. 
  • The cost of the ServSafe 18-hour Manager's Certification course is $130.  Pre-registration is required for the course and will close or mailed in applications must be postmarked on or before Monday, February 8 for early registration.   The late registration fee of $150 will be offered until Friday, February 12.
