vaccination except children under six months old.

Durham, N.C. – For several months,
Durham County Health Department has strictly provided H1N1 vaccinations to
people who were in the target groups identified by the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention. Beginning
Wednesday, December 9, 2009, the Health Department will lift the target group
restriction, allowing anyone to receive the H1N1 vaccination, except for
children under six months of age.
Children under six months of age cannot receive the H1N1
vaccination. The vaccination is
free of charge.
According to
County’s Health Department officials, currently the goal for all clinics is to
vaccinate as many people as possible while supplies last. The Health Department will continue to
receive appointments for Tuesdays and Thursdays; from 9 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Appointments for these clinics can be
scheduled by calling the H1N1 vaccination line at 919-560-7882. All appointments scheduled through the
H1N1 vaccination line will be administered at the Health Department, located at
414 East Main Street.
On Wednesday,
December 16, 2009, from 3 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., the County’s Health Department will
host a Walk-in H1N1 Vaccination Clinic, without target group restrictions, at
the National Guard Armory, located at 801 Stadium Drive. No appointments will be taken for the
Walk-in H1N1 Vaccination Clinic.
Clinics by appointment and the upcoming walk-in clinic require that
all children that
receive the vaccine are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
