School Health Nursing |
|
Description: |
Provides nursing services to the students and staff at all schools in the Durham Public Schools System. This includes students in the Exceptional Children Program and their staff, as well as students in Alternative Educational Programs. Services include developing individual care plans for students with chronic health concerns such as asthma, diabetes, seizures, sickle cell, etc. School Nurses serve as the health resource persons for teachers and other school staff. They promote appropriate decision making in order to impact on the teenage pregnancy and infant mortality rates. Classes are also taught on health related topics. |
