Unincorporated Durham County Residents
Durham County operates four Solid Waste Convenience Centers that offer drop-off service for recycling and the disposal of residential trash, white goods, and yard waste. Residents must display a Solid Waste Permit Decal* in order to use these services.
*NOTE: Solid Waste Permit Decals are now issued on a fiscal year basis and will be included with your 2011 real estate tax bill. Tax bills were mailed to residents in mid-August. You have approximately 30 days from the receipt of your tax bill to place your new sticker on your vehicle. Renters must request a decal from their landlord. If you have lost your decal or have additional questions, contact the Durham County Tax Office at 919-560-0300.
City of Durham Residents
To use the garbage facilities at the Convenience Sties, residents who live within the City of Durham may purchase a Solid Waste Permit Decal from the Durham County Tax Office. Call 919-560-0300 for more information.
City of Durham residents do not need a decal in order to use the drop off recycling services. For information on where you can dispose of additional items, please visit the City of Durham Solid Waste Website or call 560-1200.
