Durham County’s Roadside Recycling Program is recruiting volunteers to participate in our new Recycling Ambassador program. Recycling Ambassadors are grassroots communicators who serve as a resource for their friends and neighbors about recycling in Durham County. They share information about what to recycle, special recycling events, schedule changes, and other waste management services provided by the County.
As a Recycling Ambassador, you choose the area you serve. This could be your entire neighborhood or just your street. If you don't live in a neighborhood, you can be an Ambassador for your church, community center, Ruritan club, or any other group that you belong to and want to share recycling information with.
Recycling Ambassadors will attend a 2 hour orientation session to gain a solid background in recycling and the programs offered by Durham County. After orientation, you choose your level of commitment. We’ll send out regular emails and information for you to share with your area. It’s up to you if you want to take that information door to door, forward it as an email, post it on a bulletin board, or add it to your community newsletter.
Recycling Ambassadors must be customers of Durham County’s Roadside Recycling Program for unincorporated residents (the one with the small blue bins, not the large blue roll carts).
