The Emergency Medical Services Department serves as the primary provider of emergency ambulance service in Durham County. Paramedic level services is provided from five primary sites within the city limits, and additional county locations in Bahama, Lebanon, Redwood, Bethesda and Parkwood volunteer fire departments. Patient accounting is housed at the main EMS facility on the Durham Regional Hospital campus. Educational and Supply functions are housed at 226 Milton Road.  First responder assistance is provided within the city limits by the Durham Fire Department.
